What We Do

Analyze and Advocate — Collaborate and Communicate — Educate

SAFRR advocates for codes and regulations that strengthen fire policy, and for responsible safe development throughout California, and its local jurisdictions, that reduces the harms caused by wildfire.

Our goal is to build awareness and drive policy decisions rooted in safety.

Analyze and Advocate – We evaluate regulatory and legislative policy options; Identify influential contacts and integrate strategies to ensure high impact advocacy.

We analyze legislation, regulations, and policies to determine their technical and legal implications, including unintended consequences to California’s economy, vulnerable communities and the environment.

We advocate for strong safety-focused development and evacuation through legislation, regulations, and standards as well as inspection and enforcement programs – designed to protect first responders and the public.

Collaborate and Communicate – We forge partnerships, find common ground, and choose the right messengers to engage with decision-makers and allies.

We collaborate with community and non-profit partners, local agencies, technical experts and fire professionals to promote common-sense standards.

We communicate with public officials, partners and diverse stakeholders about growing wildfire risks and the actions Californians can take to increase the probability of reducing fire risk and saving lives.

Then, we educate public officials about the Minimum Fire Safe Regulations and highlight the risks associated with development in fire-prone communities.
